Who is Smiling Pug?

My photo

"I am a happy pug therefore.... I am a smiling pug"! My mum is called Smilingpug... after me! Because of her love of animals and nature, she is a Buddhist and a vegetarian (thank god). She is most inspired by the Dalai Lama. We live on the West Coast of Canada and I share my home with my two older feline sisters Tika and Kizzy and my NEW little brother Sam Cooper who... is all the way from MidSouth Pug Rescue in Tennessee!! I am 11 and I don't walk to well anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't get around! Welcome to my blog.

Pug Rescue

Hi everypuggy,

Winston heres.

I just found outs that Mum is researchings Pug Rescue.

Since we adopted Sam Cooper Mum feels that we needs to get involved in rescue.

Sam has really settled in his new homes here! Look at this sleepy pug!

Here in Vancouver we don't have pug rescue but we want to change that.

There are so many pugs down south in the USA where Sam is from that needs forever homes. We have homes here that need forever pugs.

Mum is starting a west coast pug rescue and needs some board members.

If you are interested in being a part of this please email us, address is on my sides bar, and let us knows or message us on facebooks.

  3. Winston, we don't know the rules in Canada, but down here it can be tough to start a non-profit rescue. Our mom is a founding member of Pugs U Gotta Save. It took 18 months to get our official non-profit status from the federal government. That allowed us to take donations that were a tax benefit to our donors. We started raising money before then and taking in dogs, but it's hard to raise money without the tax benefit. We are still small, taking in only a few dogs at a time. And we work incredibly hard to raise money so that we can help the ones we do take in. There's a lot of seniors with health problems that are being surrendered. And just about all the pugs need dentals, neutering, etc.

We would recommend that your mom talk to some folks who've done it already to get as much info as she can first. Another idea is to open a west coast chapter of a group that's already established. Under My Wing is in Ottawa. And Lola Pug's mom volunteers for Pugalug. Maybe one of those groups would be interested in spreading out west or at least helping you get started.

If you are looking to pull already vetted pugs from shelters or rescues, check out Pilots N Paws. They help transport dogs across the country. Maybe they go to Canada, too.

We admire you for doing this. Rescuing is hard work and sometimes it's heartbreaking work. It's not for the faint of heart. But it can be done if enough people work together. Good luck and hope you are able to get up and running soon!
